comics

Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday we get a newspaper. I peruse the actual pages, just to make it look like I don't subscribe just for one reason: the comics. I grew up reading them daily and I can't shake my love for newspaper comics. But, I'm not going to lie, they rarely make me chuckle out loud. I've noticed that comics are becoming more and more popular online and those I do read almost daily. The Oatmeal and xkcd are a few of my favorites, as well as Crimes Against Hugh's Manatees.

I adore words. One of my favorite being 'pastiche'. Do you have a favorite word? If not, you should consider getting one. It makes for quirky and interesting conversation starters (or enders, if you aren't around other language lovers).

niche

A few years ago, I watched a documentary on ferret owners. And then I watched one on synchronized swimming competitions. I've since seen shows about storage containers, I've read crazy knitting blogs and I've visited hobby shops and bike shops and all sorts of strange and specifics shops and here's what I have concluded, if you haven't found your niche, your little enclave of similar minded people all driven toward the same specific way to spend their free time, then you aren't trying hard enough.
